There are moments in this journey that remind me why speaking up, showing up, and staying engaged truly matters. Being invited to this roundtable conversation earlier this year was one of those moments. I walked into that room in Floral Park not just as a parent, but as someone who cares deeply about the safety and well-being of our kids. To know that the voices around that table helped move real legislation forward is remarkable, and I’m grateful to have been part of it.
I’m proud that Governor Kathy Hochul is signing the Child Data Protection Act and the SAFE for Kids Act into law. These measures aren’t just policy decisions. They’re protections that will help safeguard our children’s online experiences by limiting addictive social media feeds and banning the sale of their personal data. For families, that means peace of mind. For young people, it means a healthier digital environment at a time when they need it most.

When Attorney General Letitia James joined us for that roundtable, the conversation was honest and urgent. Parents shared their concerns. Medical professionals talked about the growing mental health risks tied to social media. You could feel how deeply this issue touched every person in the room. And it was clear that action couldn’t wait.
Seeing these bills pass this legislative session reinforces what can happen when community voices, leaders, and advocates come together with purpose. This isn’t just a win for policy. It’s a win for our kids.
I’m proud of the opportunity, proud of the progress, and proud of the power of collective action.
